Luxury Hotel Basilicata & SPA, is a new 5-star hotel of charm and relaxation, designed to give you the unique experience of a stay in one of the oldest cities in the world: Matera, European Capital of Culture 2019. Opened in 2018, it is located in the center of the Sassi, a UNESCO heritage site, on a ridge by the Sasso Caveoso district of Matera and has 35 rooms and suites, set in the tuff walls.
In a total area of about 5,000 square meters between rooms, rooms and outdoor spaces that are part of the Sassi district, with a wonderful SPA, with a swimming pool carved into the rock and a multifunctional room, ideal for meetings up to 40 people. It is a widespread hotel, a receptive structure that consists of 35 rooms and suites that are located on a ridge of the Sasso Caveoso district of Matera, in the district called Conche dating back to the thirteenth century. The rooms structurally trace the ancient caves dug into the tuff, as in the original houses, but are enriched with modern and functional technologies and furnishings, ideal for reliving these places in comfort and luxury. The wellness centre of Luxury Hotel Basilicata & SPA is a journey through time where you can relax in the beautiful heated swimming pool, set in the natural rock. The wellness centre is a space of about 500 square meters, it is a suggestive place and occupies the deepest heart of the structure, recovering underground rooms dating back to the 9th century. The largest cave compartment housed old cisterns recovered and now transformed into the infinity edge pool, plastered with traditional techniques. There is no shortage of single and couple massage spaces, beauty cabins, and relaxation areas.

The restaurant serves regional Lucanian dishes, with the possibility of enjoying them, on warmer days, in the reserved outdoor courtyard. Inside the restaurant (80 seats), there is a reception area for the maitre d'; a lounge bar area, and a library.
The structure has 35 expertly designed and furnished rooms and suites that structurally trace the ancient caves carved into the tuff, but enriched with modern and functional furnishings. All rooms are equipped with air conditioning/heating, TV, safe, minibar, wi-fi, coffee machine, kettle.
Some of the rooms have internal pathways carved into the walls of the Sasso, leading to the central area of the hotel, with direct access to the lobby, restaurant and SPA.
Guests who wish to indulge in relaxation can enjoy a 500-square-meter SPAthat occupies the deepest heart of the facility, created by recovering underground rooms dating back to the 9th century. The largest cave chamber houses the heated swimming pool, the old recovered cisterns have been transformed into emotional showers, and part of the loungers has been created by ergonomically shaping the “tufa.” There is also no shortage of massage spaces, hammam, sauna, beauty cabins, and relaxation area.
The hotel also has a multipurpose hall, ideal for business meetings and gatherings, with a capacity of up to 50 seats.
