Il Presepe Vivente

Una delle più antiche tradizioni festive, il presepe vivente è la ricostruzione a grandezza naturale di un presepe, ma al posto delle statue ci sono persone vere!
Crea un'atmosfera magica, che ci riporta indietro nel tempo e ci fa scoprire non solo la religione, ma anche com'era la vita a quei tempi: mestieri e abiti antichi, scene povere e realistiche.

Sono molte le città che organizzano questi eventi storico-religiosi. Da non perdere: Matera, che prepara i suoi Sassi per l'evento; Martina Franca, con il suo centro storico medievale; Alberobello, dove si può anche ascoltare musica antica dal vivo, proprio accanto ai trulli.

Gli antichi mestieri
Riescono a rievocare atmosfere passate e a creare scene di lavoro e di vita quotidiana. Guardando i partecipanti, si può percepire la dedizione che i nostri antenati mettevano nel loro lavoro; inoltre, è un'occasione di apprendimento per i bambini. Sentono infatti la tenacia e la passione dei lavoratori e da loro imparano.

Nei suggestivi cortili dove solitamente viene ambientato un presepe vivente, si svolgono anche lavori legati agli animali: pastorizia e allevamento erano i mestieri principali di quei tempi. Sia per gli adulti che per i bambini è un piacere osservare da vicino questi animali. Inoltre, le pecore, i cavalli e gli asini che ritroviamo in queste manifestazioni, sono solitamente forniti da agriturismi e grandi fattorie locali.

Living nativity scene

One of the most ancient festive traditions, the living nativity scene is a life-size reconstruction of a crib; but instead of statues there are real people!
It creates a magical atmosphere, which brings us back in time and makes us discover not only religion, but also what life was in those days: ancient jobs and clothing, poor and realistic scenes.

There are many cities that organize these historical-religious events. The must-see ones: Matera, that prepares its “Sassi” for the event; Martina Franca, with its medieval historical center; Alberobello, where one can also listen to ancient live music, right next to the trulli.

The ancient jobs
They manage to recall past atmospheres and to create working scenes and everyday’s life. While looking at the attendees, one can sense the dedication that our ancestors used to put in their jobs; moreover, it is a learning occasion for children. As a matter of fact they feel the tenacity and the passion of the workers and they learn from them.

In conclusion, in the suggestive courtyards where usually a living nativity scene is set, there are also animals-related jobs: pastoralism and farming used to be the main jobs back in those times. For both adults and children, it is a pleasure to look closely at theese animals. Moreover, the sheeps, the horses and the donkeys that we find in these events, are usually provided by local agritourisms and large farms.
